Eye cream is an essential skincare products for night-owls and as one of them, I am in dire need of a good one. Dark circles resulted from years of sleeping deprivation, plus dryness around eye area means more visible eye wrinkles. Eye wrinkles from years of smiling are cute but eye wrinkles from lack of sleep makes you look more like The Bride of Frankenstein. I don’t know about you but that is definitely not my definition of cute.
So when SNP Indonesia contacted me and asked me to try their Bird’s Nest W+Eye Cream Wrinkle Care + Whitening… why does it sound like something I exactly need?
SNP : Shining Nature Purity at a glance
SNP stands for Shining Nature Purity, a skincare brand from Korea most notable for their fun animal-printed sheet masks. Their products are dubbed to be cosmeceuticals, combining cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, with safe and effective ingredients. Their product lines seem to emphasize heavily on hydrating and brightening skincare products.
SNP also produce several skincare lines inspired by the wisdom of eastern Asia traditional medicine, by incorporating ingredients such as precious metals and swiftlet nest. Bird’s Nest W+ Eye Cream Wrinkle Care + Whitening is a part of the Bird’s Nest line, which is also the line SNP sent to me.Expect review galore in the near future!
Now, on to the review of SNP Bird’s Nest W+Eye Cream Wrinkle Care + Whitening…
Water, dipropylene glycol, glycerin, isohexadecane, triethylhexanoin, glyceryl stearate, dipentaerithryl pentaisononanoate, niacinamide, cetearyl alcohol, stearic acid, theobroma cacao seed butter, butyrospermum parkii, sodium hyaluronate, swiftlet nest extract (4 ppm), butylene glycol, gold, palmitoyl pentapetide-5, acetyl hexapeptide-8, PEG-40 stearate, sorbitan sesquioleate, dimethicone, trehalose, peg-100 stearate, carbomer, tromethamine, adenosine, tocopheryl acetate, 1,2-hexanediol, ethylhexylglycerin, disodium edta, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, bis-peg-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane, perfume
After humectants (dipropylene glycol, glycerin) and emollients plus texture enhancer (i.e. isohexadecane, triethylhexanoin), I can see the familiar niacinamide! Niacinamide is an amazing ingredient that helps in brightening, hydrating, and potentially fights aging, and I’m very excited to see it up there. It is one of my personal favorite ingredients for simultaneously hydrating and brightening.
The rest are okay, mostly moisturizers (humectants and emollients) so I suppose people with dry skin around eye will really appreciate it. Besides, well-hydrated skin gives you more plumped up skin appearance, so it will help fading your current wrinkle, at least for short term. The swiftlet nest extract is also there, but in such small dose (4 ppm) I don’t know how potent it can be.
The texture is light cream, somewhat resembling gel. This is a “hydrating” type of eye cream, and it absorbs quickly, which makes it ideal to use during daytime. I use this mostly during my morning routine, and it leaves your eye area looks nicely hydrated. There’s a silky finish afterwards, which makes you look freshened up (exactly the look I’m after.)
In the 10 days I am using this eye cream, it hydrates my under eye area nicely. My fine wrinkles are somewhat plumped
If you’re wearing under-eye concealers (I do sometimes to make me look less like a character from Tim Burton’s movie), and you have dry eye area, this eye cream is really nice. It is water-based so it could prepare the skin for any makeup you put afterwards, without making your makeup easily budge (like often happened with oil-based or more creamy eye creams)
Of course I don’t expect short term usage to undo the effect of years of lack of sleep. Wrinkle free and brightening claim needs further testing but I am excited to see how it works in the long run. Afterall, effects of niacinamide (the actual star ingredient in this eye cream, in my opinion) takes time to really show.
Will I repurchase? Yes! I like the texture and how it is absorbed quickly, so it does not prolong my morning routine unnecessarily. It is also sufficiently hydrating for my skin. Long term results are to be observed, and it would be interesting to see how it would fare. So far, the experience of using it is rewarding enough, .
